Pastoral Care Elders
Job Description
  1. Pastoral care
    • Responsible for a community, woven together by Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, and pointing to the fellowship of the kingdom of God
      • Take special opportunities to know and guide congregation members toward deeper faith and discipleship
      • Regular and intentional visits/connections with congregation members
        • Intentional home visits
        • Hospitalized
        • Nursing home
        • Homebound
    • Elders are responsible for the care and support of the BLVD Staff
      • Praying for the staff regularly
      • Occasional check-ins for spiritual, mental, physical, and mental well-being
  1. Discipleship
    • Responsible for the church's daily involvement in a discipleship relationship with Jesus
    • Provide support and care of life group leaders and their life groups
  1. Prayer mobilization
    • Develop a strategy for what it looks like for the BLVD church to be a place that intercedes and prays intentionally so that we can discover God’s love with our neighbors
    • Lead the charge in mobilizing the congregation to pray and intercede for one another, the neighborhood, and the world
  1. Spiritual oversight and spiritual discipline
    • Ensure that members are nurtured through scripture
      • In conjunction with the staff, Elders will develop a plan and measure its effectiveness
    • Oversight of BLVD's theology, the sacraments, worship, baptism, preaching, and prayer
    • Hear confessions of faith
    • Welcome new members
    • Act on requests and publish opportunities for infant baptism, infant dedication, believer baptism, or remembering baptism
  1. Elders will meet at minimum quarterly
    • Additional quarterly meetings including entire leadership (BOD, Elders, Deacons, and staff)
