Job Description
  1. Seek and follow the will of Christ for the church
  2. The BOD governs by developing, approving, and ensuring the implementation of the Key Result Areas (KRA’s) and by empowering the Lead Pastor
  3. The BOD is responsible for extending a call, supervising, and requesting a dissolution of a call of the Lead Pastor
  4. Supervising Lead Pastor job performance
    • Performance of the Lead Pastor
      • Annual KRA’s are to be developed with Lead Pastor and implemented into all of staff and leadership. The role of the BOD is to support and provide accountability for the Lead Pastor and KRAs
    • Support of the Lead Pastor through offering wise counsel and prayer.
  1. Financial Management
    • The BOD is responsible for maintaining a monthly financial review.
      • Daily finances shall be conducted by a qualified organization and/ or person with a monthly report provided to the BOD and made a part of the BOD meeting minutes
    • The BOD empowers the Lead Pastor to steward the church’s financial assets and assures that the lead pastor is not putting the BLVD Church at financial risk
    • The BOD will set the budget for ministry, facilities upkeep, maintenance, and future growth
  1. Facility and property maintenance
    • Empowers work with the facilities team and deacons to maintain and improve all assets of the BLVD Church
  1. Monitor Conflict-of-Interest
    • The BOD is responsible for ensuring there are no conflicts of interest and puts policies and systems in place to ensure full disclosure of any potential conflicts between outside organizations and church employees or its leadership
  1. BOD will meet at minimum quarterly
    • Additional quarterly meetings including entire leadership (BOD, Elders, Deacons, and staff)

 

 

Pastoral Care Elders
Job Description
  1. Pastoral care
  • Responsible for a community, woven together by Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, and pointing to the fellowship of the kingdom of God
  • Take special opportunities to know and guide congregation members toward deeper faith and discipleship
  • Regular and intentional visits/connections with congregation members
  • Intentional home visits
    • Hospitalized
    • Nursing home
    • Homebound
  • Elders are responsible for the care and support of the BLVD Staff
    • Praying for the staff regularly
    • Occasional check-ins for spiritual, mental, physical, and mental well-being
  • Discipleship
    • Responsible for the church's daily involvement in a discipleship relationship with Jesus
    • Provide support and care of life group leaders and their life groups
  1. Prayer mobilization
  • Develop a strategy for what it looks like for the BLVD church to be a place that intercedes and prays intentionally so that we can discover God’s love with our neighbors
  • Lead the charge in mobilizing the congregation to pray and intercede for one another, the neighborhood, and the world
  1. Spiritual oversight and spiritual discipline
  • Ensure that members are nurtured through scripture
  • In conjunction with the staff, Elders will develop a plan and measure its effectiveness
  • Oversight of BLVD's theology, the sacraments, worship, baptism, preaching, and prayer
  • Hear confessions of faith
  • Welcome new members
  • Act on requests and publish opportunities for infant baptism, infant dedication, believer baptism, or remembering baptism

Deacon
Job Description
  1. Deacons are to be servants, following Jesus’s example of servanthood in word and deed. In their roles, they serve Christ, the church, and the world.
  2. Deacons lead the church in ministries of justice, mercy, and compassion.
  • They help recruit, coordinate and cast vision for service projects, programs, and events to ensure that the BLVD is caring for and loving our neighborhood and community.
  1. The primary responsibilities of deacons fall into these main categories
  • The use of the mobilization resources
    • Mobilization budget
    • Benevolence budget
    • Evangelism budget
  • Mission involvement by developing and maintaining missional partnerships
  • Disaster response and volunteer service opportunities
  • Hunger advocacy and relief efforts
  • Special individual and family concerns
  • Caring for creation and living simply.
  • Management of the offering
      • Develop, maintain, and follow a schedule for collecting, counting and depositing Sunday offering (including drop boxes)
